New High-Paying Jobs

  • Creating hundreds of jobs by locating the new national headquarters of Amedisys Corp. in the dilapidated Schwegmann’s location on Sherwood Forest Blvd.
  • Dozens of new jobs at the Millerville Center (Lowe’s, Target, Best Buy, restaurants) replaced a closed big, box store.
  • Brand new jobs at the new state-of-the-art FedEx Ground facility on North Harrell’s Ferry Road.
  • Retaining over 150 jobs at the new Direct General Insurance headquarters off Florida Blvd. after the company was heavily courted by Tennessee and Texas to relocate to those states.

New Roads & Traffic Improvements

  • Brand new intersection currently under construction at Coursey Blvd. and Sherwood Forest Blvd. with additional turning lanes.
  • An award-winning Continuous Flow Intersection at Sherwood Forest, Airline Highway and Siegen Lane
  • Expansion of Millerville Road from Old Hammond Highway to I-12
  • Expansion of Old Hammond Highway from Airline to Millerville
  • Complete re-creation of the intersection of I-12, Sherwood Forest and South Harrell’s Ferry Road
  • Expansion of N. Harrell’s Ferry Road from Old Hammond Highway to Sherwood Forest
  • Replacement of older bridges on Flannery Road and Jones Creek Road
  • Expansion of Jones Creek Road from Harrell’s Ferry to Coursey Blvd.
  • Expansion of South Harrell’s Ferry Road from O’Neal Lane to Sherwood Forest Blvd.
  • Expansion of Millerville Road from I-12 to South Harrell’s Ferry Road.

Quality of Life

  • Refurbishing BREC Parks in Eastgate and South River Oaks neighborhoods and renovating Forest Park on South Harrell’s Ferry Road.
  • Increased patrols, radar use, ticketing and overall police presence - cracking down hard on speeding and racing.
  • Allocating funds for “shot-spotter” cameras to identify criminals in high crime areas.
  • Assisting East Side Fire Department in securing funds for new fire fighting equipment and a second station on South Harrell’s Ferry Road.
  • Securing the location for Fairwood Branch Library in the district.
  • Fought billboard companies who violated local ordinances, prohibited construction near homes, and placed a moratorium on new billboards in East Baton Rouge Parish.
  • Chased away vagrants and forced negligent property owners to clean up their property or face stiff penalties.
  • Worked with Entergy to upgrade street lighting, to make our neighborhoods safer.
  • Bringing the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state headquarters and Athletic Hall of Fame to the district
  • Future home of Animal Control Adoption & Educational Center, “No Kill” Facility, on Old Hammond Highway at Millerville Road.
  • Opened the process of filling positions on local boards and commissions, encouraging greater civic involvement.
